Welcome to 2021-22!

As we plan for a beginning that will hopefully resemble starts similar to years past, our focus will still be to ensure that:

every child, every day is finding a way to feel connected,

every child, every day is being challenged by new learnings and experiences,

and every child, every day knows they have a champion they can turn to.

The last school year challenged staff and students to find a new normal for learning, connected us in new ways, and required our champions to champion from afar.  What I have most learned through this process is how much I appreciate the expertise our teachers bring to McGregor Schools, the ways in which our students continue to work hard to grow, and overall, appreciation for the little things in life-giving a high five, a hug or being able to laugh out loud with many people around.  What I MOST appreciate about McGregor Schools is how even under circumstances we have never experienced we are still a learning and caring community.

Normal is such a simple word and it is our goal at McGregor Schools to get back to normal, similar to pre-covid years.  Every week there were new types of learning experiences teachers were piloting and much of what was learned will continue to be used in the future. We can’t wait to move on to the next phase of learning after Covid-19 and we know, all returning and new students to McGregor Schools will be welcomed with open arms to our community - we will continue to grow!

This year we will have our Open House from 12:30-7:00 on Thursday, September 2nd. There is no need to schedule individual conference times this year. We will also have school pictures taken that day for our students. For your convenience, the high school will run its Open House at the same time.

I also want to make families aware of our website and the resources that are available on it. Both the Elementary and High School handbooks are on this site. Also available on our website is a link to our JMC program. If you are new to our district this year, you will receive a username and password to access your student’s information. If you need information regarding JMC please ask Jodi or Serena in the offices and they can help you out.

We ask that you please contact the office if you have had an address, phone, etc change from last year, or you can go into your JMC account and make the changes yourself. It is important that we have current contact information for our students as this will be how you will be contacted in the event of an illness at school, school closings, late starts, activity cancellations, etc.

Teacher/Classroom assignments will be sent out the week of the 23rd. Look for this in the mail later that week.

I am very excited to continue my position as superintendent/elementary principal in a great community and look forward to the opportunity to meet the students and families during the upcoming year!
