In the community survey, the results showed that the majority of the community would support projects with no tax impact, and would like a separate choice for projects that would increase taxes.

Honoring your feedback, the Community Facilities Task Force proposed the following two question ballot to the McGregor School Board and it was approved to go to voters on August 11th.

(Because the district is paying off old debt, Question 1 will not increase your current property tax)

Safety & Security Improvements

  • Relocate High School Office
    to front entrance for improved student and staff security
  • Create secure entry vestibule to effectively monitor and control access to our building
  • Expand and remodel Health and Student Services areas
  • Replace and/or update emergency notification systems (PA, fire alarms and lighting)
  • Improve ADA accessibility in and around building (updates to elevator, doors, pathways)
  • Separate parent and bus traffic flow for safer pick-up and drop-off

Learning Space Updates                                  

  • Add early childhood education classrooms to expand capacity
  • Reconfigure Special Education and Art classrooms on first floor
  • Relocate and remodel kindergarten and sixth grade classrooms to keep elementary students in one area
  • Create STEM and life skills labs, as well as a cultural classroom
  • Remodel both elementary and high school commons and media center to allow for group instruction
  • Update Technical Education and shop areas
  • Renovate kitchen spaces for improved food service

Required Maintenance

  • Address overdue building repairs (ceilings, floors, walls, lockers, casework, doors and windows)
  • Updates and/or replace lighting (to LED) and HVAC systems
  • Upgrade technology for improved capacity for online learning
  • Build new bus garage to store and maintain District-owned buses

                 $2,000,000 = AVERAGE INCREASE OF $1.93/MONTH

    Build a new community fitness center with office and changing rooms, then repurpose the current fitness area for health and band space needs. Question #2 can only pass if Question #1 passes.
