City Tours of the North

Community Education invites you to join us on upcoming adventures as we tour our neighboring cities. We will make stops along the way at local attractions that draw visitors from around. We will check out local eateries and popular stops as we make our way throughout the next few months to our neighbors to the north, west, and east. 
Monday, December 16 - Duluth
Bus Fee: $10;
all other expenses on your own
Noon - Van/Bus leaves school 
1pm - Duluth Grill (lunch)
2:30pm - Miller Hill Mall last minute Christmas shopping
4:00pm - Coffee/tea at local coffee shop
4:30pm - Bentleyville Tour

Join the dance party! Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training — alternating fast and slow rhythms — and resistance training.
When: Monday and Wednesday from 3:40 - 4:30pm
Where: McGregor High School Auditorium Stage

Open Pickleball
Did you know that Pickleball has been described as America's "fastest-growing sport"? Pickleball can be played as a single game or a doubles game. McGregor Community Education is excited to have courts available for Pickleball "pick up games" weekday mornings in the cafeteria gymnasium. Many in the community are familiar with the game and are looking for others to join in on the fast, exciting, loads of fun and anyone can play it games! Community Education will have the cart available with nets, paddles and balls for those interested. Of course, you may bring your own as well. Contact Community Education for more information.

Cross Training Workouts With Heather
Start your fitness journey to better health and body. Cross training workouts can be adapted for all abilities. 
When: December 2 4:30 - 5:30pm and December 3 & 5  from 4:00 - 5:00pm

Watercolor Social
Watercolor Artist, Ann Rorem will guide you through varied subjects and techniques during this watercolor class. This is a great opportunity for you to get out and socialize with other artists both beginner to advanced while enjoying treats and company. Materials are provided for a fee of $40.00 for first timers and $35.00 for those of you who have painted with Ann before. All classes will be held at Big Sandy Lodge & Resort from 5 - 7PM.

So what if it's getting cold outside. Ann is going to “warm” you up as you paint a favorite holiday tropical! Join us and create your own variety.

Let's take a walk back to those warm days of summer by painting a canoe scene.

We know the sun is just around the corner. Ann will lead you as you use an unexpected material to create a sunny flower!

Let Ann take you on a visit to the North Shore and paint a popular spot...Split Rock.

Nature Photography Class
Learn about using your camera settings to make your photographs stand out and achieve your desired effect. We will look at photographs, talk about the settings used and head out into the field for you to try your skills. We will conclude with exploring the digital dark room and further enhance your photo.

Heart Saver First Aid CPR AED

How many of you don’t know how to perform CPR? If your friend/family member was in need of CPR would you feel confident enough to start until first responders arrived? Initiating bystander high quality CPR increases the chance of survival by 45%!!!!! This could be your parent, your best friend, your co-worker! I encourage you to learn CPR so you could make the difference.
Anyone can learn! 
Heart Saver First Aid CPR AED class is a classroom, video based led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage first aid, choking, or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid, CPR and AED use to meet job regulatory or other requirements. Key changes reflecting the new science from 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care Course Features: 
a. First Aid Basics
b. Medical Emergencies
c. Injury Emergencies
d. Environmental Emergencies
e. Adult CPR and AED use
f. Child CPR and AED use and Infant CPR 
g. Written Test
h. Skills Practice and Testing
Student manual comes with a new Heart Saver First Aid Quick Reference Guide that summarizes first aid actions for many injuries and illnesses. Upon completion of this course, students receive an American Heart Association Saver First Aid CPR AED Course Completion Card that is valid for two years.

Driver Improvement Course

The Driver Improvement course is open to the public; pre-registration is required. A MN Highway Safety & Research Center certified instructor teaches this class. By utilizing the most up-to-date research in the field, participants will be provided the latest information in regards to driver safety, new laws, and vehicle technology. This class has something for everyone! The fee for the four hour refresher course is $22.00 and the eight hour course is $26.00. Persons age 55 and older who complete the course qualify for a 10% discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years, according to Minnesota law. First time participants must complete the initial eight hours of training and a four hour refresher class every three years to maintain the 10% discount.
